SHORT ANSWER
There is no official Dubai flying taxi price yet: AED 350 per passenger is a figure reported in May 2024, and the RTA said in November 2025 that fares had not been set. Public flights had not started by 31 October 2026; Joby is aiming for its first Dubai passengers before the end of 2026.
Dubai flying taxi at a glance (status on 31 October 2026)
| Question | What is confirmed | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Price per seat | No published fare. AED 350 is a 2024 media report; the RTA says pricing is not set | Budget only once you see a quote in the app |
| Launch date | First passengers targeted before the end of 2026, subject to approvals | Keep a ground transfer booked |
| First station | DXB vertiport, technically complete since 16 April 2026 | The airport node comes first |
| Network | Four announced sites: DXB, Dubai Mall, Atlantis The Royal, American University in Dubai | Flights only between these hubs |
| Booking | Uber Air powered by Joby in the Uber app, plus Joby’s own app | An announcement is not a live booking |
| Aircraft | One commercial pilot and up to four passengers | Not a driverless drone |
| Abu Dhabi | Not part of the announced network | No inter-emirate air taxi to book |
Most articles still repeat older launch dates and a single headline price. This guide separates what the operators and the RTA have actually confirmed from what was only reported, so you can plan a Dubai trip without relying on a service you cannot book yet.
How Much Will the Dubai Flying Taxi Cost?
Nobody can sell you a Dubai air taxi seat at a fixed, published price yet. The announcements from Joby, Uber and Skyports describe the aircraft, the stations and the booking flow, but none of them includes a public fare table.
The most useful official signal came in November 2025, when Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of the RTA’s Public Transport Agency, told Gulf News that the price had not been decided. He said the service would cost less than today’s helicopter rides, and that the longer-term aim is fares close to a regular Uber or Careem trip once the network has been running for a few years. In other words: expect premium pricing at launch.

Dubai flying taxi price figures and how to read them
| Figure you may see | Where it comes from | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| AED 350 per passenger | Khaleej Times report, May 2024 | A historical estimate, not a current tariff |
| “Cheaper than a helicopter” | RTA Public Transport Agency CEO, November 2025 | The launch-price ceiling the RTA has described |
| Close to an Uber or Careem fare | Same RTA comments, as a goal for later years | A long-term ambition, not launch pricing |
| AED 150–350 per city flight | Figures circulating online | No official route-by-route fare table exists |
| AED 800–1,500 Dubai to Abu Dhabi | Figures circulating online | No inter-emirate service has been announced |
A per-seat price changes the comparison with a road taxi. If a seat did cost AED 350, four people would pay AED 1,400 for one flight. A regular airport taxi from DXB to Palm Jumeirah (about 33 km) works out at roughly AED 105–115 for the whole car on the current tariff, including one Salik gate. That is simple arithmetic on the 2024 figure, not a quote for a live service; for the road side of the sum, our Dubai taxi cost guide shows how every metered fare is calculated.
Before you pay for any flight, check that the quote answers four questions:
- Is the price per passenger or for the whole party?
- Are the ground legs to and from the vertiport included, or charged separately?
- Does it include VAT and booking fees?
- What are the luggage limits, and is there a charge for extra bags?
Dubai Air Taxi Launch Date: What Is Confirmed?
In its February 2026 announcement with Uber, Joby said it expected to carry its first passengers in Dubai later in 2026. Two months later, on 16 April 2026, Skyports announced the technical completion of the DXB vertiport. Neither statement set a public booking date.

Dubai air taxi milestones and what each one does not mean
| Date | Milestone | What it does not mean |
|---|---|---|
| Nov 2024 | RTA approves construction of the first vertiport near DXB and targets Q1 2026 | That target has passed, so older “early 2026” headlines are out of date |
| Jun 2025 | Joby completes piloted test flights in Dubai | A test programme, not a public service |
| Nov 2025 | Joby flies point to point and names the next vertiport sites | Announced sites are not open stations |
| Feb 2026 | Uber Air powered by Joby is unveiled | The booking design was shown, not opened to the public |
| 16 Apr 2026 | DXB vertiport reaches technical completion | Infrastructure is ready, but there is no passenger timetable |
| Oct 2026 | Joby still targets first passengers before year-end | There is still no public booking date |
A commercial launch needs aviation approvals and a ready operation, and a bookable journey needs an open route, a departure and a confirmed fare. Until all of those exist, treat any launch headline as a plan. If you are landing at DXB, keep a confirmed ground transfer; our airport taxi prices guide lists what a metered ride from the airport costs today.
Dubai Air Taxi Routes and Vertiports
A vertiport is a dedicated station where vertical take-off aircraft land, passengers board and the aircraft are charged and serviced between flights. Dubai’s first network is built around four of them.

Joby’s November 2025 network announcement named the initial locations, and Skyports’ April 2026 update gave the latest construction status:
Announced Dubai vertiports and their status
| Area served | Vertiport location | Status at the last official update |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai International Airport | Beside DXB | Technical completion announced on 16 April 2026 |
| Dubai Marina and nearby districts | American University in Dubai | Under construction in April 2026 |
| Downtown Dubai | Dubai Mall | Construction expected to start after April 2026 |
| Palm Jumeirah | Atlantis The Royal | Construction expected to start after April 2026 |
DXB is the first and flagship station. When the RTA approved it in November 2024, it said the airport vertiport was designed for about 42,000 landings and around 170,000 passengers a year. These four sites describe the planned network, not a timetable linking every pair of stations from day one.

Do not confuse DXB with Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). Joby has used DWC for test flying, but the announced passenger hub is the vertiport beside Dubai International Airport.
Will There Be Flights to Abu Dhabi?
Not in the announced plan. All four initial locations are inside Dubai, so there is no bookable Dubai to Abu Dhabi air taxi and no official inter-emirate fare. Claims of AED 800–1,500 Abu Dhabi flights should be treated as speculation until an operator publishes a route.
How Will Dubai Flying Taxi Booking Work?
Joby and Uber have announced Uber Air powered by Joby, which puts the air taxi inside the Uber app. The planned flow looks like this:
- Enter your destination in the Uber app’s “Where to?” bar.
- If the trip qualifies, Uber Air powered by Joby appears as an option.
- Review the itinerary and the quoted price.
- Confirm with one tap; the booking can cover every leg, including Uber Black pickup and drop-off.
Skyports’ April 2026 update also described seats being bookable through Joby’s own app. Both are announced booking channels, not proof that every user can reserve a seat today.

Who does what in Dubai’s air taxi network
| Organisation | Role |
|---|---|
| Joby Aviation | Builds and flies the electric aircraft, with a certified commercial pilot |
| Uber | Booking through the Uber app, including Uber Black ground legs |
| Skyports | Develops the vertiports, starting with the DXB station |
| Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) | Dubai government partner leading the air taxi network |
| General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) | UAE aviation regulator responsible for approvals |
The aircraft is small, so a booking is closer to a premium car than to an airline seat. According to the Roads and Transport Authority:
“With a capacity for four passengers plus a pilot”
Before you book, check the luggage limit, the ID you need to show, any age or weight requirements, accessibility arrangements and the cancellation terms. Do not assume airline baggage allowances or road-taxi child-seat rules apply.
How Much Time Could an Air Taxi Save?
Joby has said a flight between DXB and Palm Jumeirah is expected to take about 12 minutes, and Khaleej Times compared it with a road trip of around 45 minutes. At rush hour the road journey can take longer.

Flight time, though, is not door-to-door time. A real trip also includes:
- getting to the departure vertiport;
- check-in, security and boarding;
- waiting for your departure slot;
- leaving the vertiport and the ground leg to your hotel or meeting.
On the right route an air taxi could save a lot of time, but a 12-minute flight does not guarantee a 12-minute hotel-to-airport transfer. If you have an airline connection to catch, plan around the whole journey and keep a fallback.
Flying Taxi vs Normal Taxi vs Rental Car
Flying taxi, regular taxi and rental car compared
| Option | How you pay | Main advantage | Main limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flying taxi | Per passenger; confirm what the quote includes | Potentially much faster between connected hubs | Four stations, boarding time and ground transfers |
| Regular taxi | Metered fare plus Salik and other charges | Door to door without driving yourself | Traffic affects both time and cost |
| Rental car | Daily quote plus fuel, parking and Salik | Freedom for many stops or several days | You drive and handle parking |
Compare the total cost for your whole party, not one air taxi seat against an entire road-taxi fare. For current metered tariffs and worked examples, see our Dubai taxi cost guide; for transfers from DXB, check the Dubai airport taxi fare guide.

If your plans include several attractions in a day or a stay of a few days, car rental in Dubai is often the more flexible choice. Ask for a quote for your exact dates and check the insurance, fuel and toll terms before you decide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is AED 350 the official Dubai flying taxi price?
No. AED 350 per passenger was reported by Khaleej Times in May 2024, and it is not a verified current fare. In November 2025 the RTA said the price had not yet been set, so the only reliable figure is the quote you see in the app when your route is bookable.
When will Dubai air taxis launch?
Joby has said it expects to carry its first passengers in Dubai before the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. As of 31 October 2026 public passenger flights had not started, and no exact public booking date had been announced.
Which Dubai flying taxi station comes first?
The vertiport beside Dubai International Airport (DXB) is the first and flagship station. Skyports announced its technical completion on 16 April 2026, but that milestone alone does not mean public passenger flights have begun.
Can I book a flying taxi through Uber?
Uber and Joby have announced Uber Air powered by Joby, which will appear in the Uber app for journeys that qualify and can include Uber Black pickup and drop-off. Joby’s own app is also planned. Check the app for real availability rather than assuming bookings are live.
How many passengers can the aircraft carry?
The Joby aircraft is designed for a pilot plus up to four passengers. Luggage limits and passenger requirements have not been published as a full public policy, so confirm them before you book.
Is Dubai’s flying taxi driverless?
No. The announced Joby service flies with a certified commercial pilot on board. It should not be described as a pilotless passenger drone.
Will a Dubai flying taxi be cheaper than a helicopter?
That is the stated aim. In November 2025 an RTA official said the service would be cheaper than today’s helicopter rides in Dubai, with a longer-term goal of fares close to a regular Uber or Careem trip a few years after launch.
Is there a flying taxi from Dubai to Abu Dhabi?
Not in the announced plan. The initial network links four locations inside Dubai, so there is no bookable Dubai to Abu Dhabi air taxi or official inter-emirate fare. For that trip, a road taxi, bus or rental car is still the way to travel.

TRAVELLER QUESTION
“We land at DXB in December with the kids. Can we take the air taxi straight to our hotel on the Palm, or should we book something else just in case?”
DriveX Team
Book something else. Public flights had not started on 31 October 2026, and even once they do, a family of four would be buying four seats. An airport taxi to Palm Jumeirah costs roughly AED 105–115 for the whole car on the current tariff (see our airport taxi fare guide). If you will be moving around for several days, a rental car collected on arrival is usually the better value. Keep the air taxi as a bonus if a seat and a price appear in the app before you fly.
TRAVELLER QUESTION
“Is it true the flying taxi is only AED 350? That sounds cheap for something like a helicopter.”
DriveX Team
That figure is from a May 2024 news report, not a published fare. In November 2025 the RTA said the price had not been set, only that it would be cheaper than current helicopter rides. Wait for the quote in the Uber or Joby app, and check whether it is per passenger and whether the ground legs are included.
